The Buddy Rich Memorial Concert… See It Live!

in Drummers, Event Review

Welcome to a special edition of The Paradiddler.

In a previous post, I mentioned that the Buddy Rich Memorial Concert was being held on Saturday, October 18, 2008 (that’s tomorrow!) at the Manhattan Center for the Arts/Hammerstein Ballroom in New York.  I’m sure most of us can’t make it, but the alternative is not so bad!

Drumchannel.com will be streaming the event live!  The event begins at 7:30pm (all times noted in this post are EST), but there will be a pre-show at 6:00pm.  The web site is in beta mode currently, so I’m not sure if you have to set up an account to view the show.  But registration is free, and there are already several videos on their site worth checking out.  It looks like this is going to be a fantastic web site with participation from some of the most respected drummers in the industry, so I recommend signing up.

Rather than me blabbing away, Drum! magazine gives all the details on the show at their web site.  You can click here for the details, but in a nutshell the drummers scheduled to appear are:

  • Tommy Igoe
  • John Blackwell
  • Donnie Marple
  • Terry Bozzio featuring Efraín Toro
  • Nick Rich
  • Chad Smith
  • Neil Peart

There may be more surprises as well, so tune in!  I’ll be giving my take on the event some time next week, so stay tuned.  Drum! magazine also made available the concert program in pdf format.  If you’re not subscribed, never to worry!  I’ve made it available below.  Hope you can catch the show!  It looks to be fantastic.
